Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto Celebrate Pizza Pizza's "Dough"nation

(Toronto, November 19, 2007) – On Wednesday, November 21, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto (BBBST) and Pizza Pizza will celebrate the success of Pizza Pizza’s, Cheese for Charity Day.  Funds were raised in support of the Slices for Smiles fund and on October 17, Pizza Pizza’s cheese pizza went to a good cause benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across Ontario and Quebec. Proceeds raised will help Big Brothers and Big Sisters continue the important work they do – matching volunteers with children who need a friend and mentor.

Pizza Pizza Chief Marketing Officer, Pat Finelli will present a cheque to BBBST, President, Cathy Denyer and BBBST Board President, Kathleen Freeman with the total amount raised on October 17, as well as funds raised through donation boxes. Children from Big Brothers and Big Sisters will get to enjoy pizza, refreshments and a pizza spinning training session with Pizza Pizza’s World Champion Spinner, Juan Hermosillo.

“Fundraisers like Pizza Pizza’s Cheese for Charity help make a big difference in our Big Brothers and Big Sisters agencies because they will help us reach even more volunteers, who make such a big difference in a child’s life,” says Cathy Denyer, BBBST, President.

Children in the BBBST programs see real, positive change. Children who take part in BBBST programs have shown improvements in self confidence, better relationships with adults, higher grades and an increased likelihood to avoid alcohol and other drugs.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto serves approximately 1,200 children and currently there are more boys than girls on the waiting list. BBBST is in need of men 18 years and over who live in the Toronto area that can be a friend and share some quality time with a child. We are also looking for girls aged 6-16 years who could benefit from having a Big Sister in the downtown core.
