Big Sisters

Being a Big Sister is about being a friend and someone to look up to. It’s about hanging out, talking and sharing, with many smiles along the way. It’s about making one child feel very special. And you’ll feel pretty great too.

Our Original and best-known One-to-One program gives volunteers the chance to build a relationship with a child/youth. As a Big Sister in this program, you will be an adult mentor to a Little Sister (6-18 years old) in a one-to-one relationship.

You don’t have to change your life to become a Big Sister… having a Little Sister just means you have someone else to share your life.

After the match is made, you get down to creating a true friendship that will benefit a child…but you’ll also be surprised about how the friendship will make you feel great too.

There are also several fun sponsored events provided throughout the year such as the Soap Box Derby at High Park, the Winter Carnival and Celebration of Friendship picnic for all Big and Little Brothers and Sisters.

My Big Sister brings out the good in me and makes me feel good about myself. She is patient, kind and caring. I love my Big Sister.

A Little Sister Is...

LITTLE SISTERS are great kids anxiously waiting to have fun with someone like you. Their ages usually range from 6 to 18, and all are excited to be a part of this program. If you ever wanted to be a kid again, your Little Sister will be happy to help you out. That’s the magic of the program – you learn from each other.

 About the One-to-One Program

As a Big Sister you will meet with your Little Sister for a minimum of two hours per week or four hours bi-weekly and we ask for a one year committment. Together, you will share hobbies, sports and everyday activities. Regular meetings will be arranged each week or every two weeks.
