In School Mentoring Photo

In-School Mentoring consists of Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers meeting one-to-one with their Little Brother or Little Sister to share activities on school property for one hour a week, September to June. Activities are chosen to facilitate interaction and communication and to foster skill development and confidence in the child using various school facilities such as the library, computer lab, gym, arts and crafts area.

This program is a true co-operative effort between local schools and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto. The school allows children to take breaks from regular programming in order to spend an hour with their Big Brother or Big Sister. The program goals are to increase children’s self-esteem and self confidence, enhance their interest and participation in school and to help keep them in school on a long-term basis.

We currently have a serious need for In-School Mentors in all our locations across Toronto. If you can spend one hour a week with a child in the school setting during the school year please contact us.
