One-to-One Program (Original)

Two hours per week or four hours bi-weekly, one year participation
This is our original one-to-one mentoring program. Your child age 6-18 years will be a part of a one-to-one friendship with a Big Brother or Big Sister. Together, they will share hobbies, sports and everyday activities. Regular meetings will be arranged each week or every two weeks.

In-School Mentoring Program

One hour a week, September to June. A school based program operated by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto in partnership with the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board in local schools. At a regular time each week, your child will meet one-to-one with his or her Big Brother or Big Sister to spend time together and share activities on school property. Littles participating in this program are from grades 1 to 8. Activities involve using various school facilities such as the library, computer lab, gym, arts and crafts area and staff room.

Coop Program

Senior Secondary Students, 16 and over, enrolled in a full year cooperative education program are matched with elementary school children. The time commitment for a Coop student is one hour per week, per student from September to June.

Go Girls!

Go Girls!, led by mentor volunteers (women ages 18-25), runs in schools for seven, two-hour sessions. Each session provides an opportunity for the girls (ages 12-14) to participate in fun, educational games and activities. Maintaining sensitivity towards emotional, social and cultural issues, Go Girls! addresses topics such as physical activity participation, healthy eating choices, self-image, and relationships.

Group Program

Two-four hours, once or twice a month on a Saturday or Sunday, six month participation. The Group Program is a great way for your child to interact with Big Brothers and Big Sisters as well as with other children. Your child will be picked up by a Big Brother or Big Sister and participate in pre-arranged, pre-paid activities with other children and adults before returning home. Outings include ice skating, golfing, sports events and many more.

BIGBunch

Our BIG BUNCH mentors share 2 hours twice a month with other volunteers and kids, participating in fun and rewarding activities. Group activities are free as the agency covers all the costs and activity planning. Groups are comprised of both male and female volunteers and children. The outings are held in Toronto, and a schedule of activities is provided well in advance.
