Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto News

From April to June 2011, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto piloted an environmental program, "Little Greens", to educate Littles and Bigs on environmental issues, encourage responsibility, accountability and ownership of our environment, and enthuse Bigs and Littles to want to become agents of change in their community.

Special thanks to our partners and sponsors: Chocosol, Artscape Wychwood Barns, City of Toronto, Earth Run Foundation, worldSALON and Kortright Centre for Conservation.

A BIG THANK YOU

Jordan with BBBST Staff Member, Jen Atwell

After Jordan's basketball-themed Bar Mitzvah took place a couple of weeks ago, he decided to do a mitzvah of his own and START something by donating 30 + basketballs from the party to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. The basketballs will be put to good use at our Big Bunch outings and other events. We are touched by Jordan's generosity and send him a BIG thank you!

The Clifton Youth Foundation has created an opportunity to help youth to obtain a post-secondary education through a scholarship that includes full tuition fees and required books for the duration of an undergraduate program. This year’s Clifton Youth Scholarship recipients are particularly accomplished: this year, Big Brother Jaisen will be attending Western University to study Biochemistry; Little Sister Olivia will study Photography at OCAD and Big Sister Varsini will study at the Schulich School of Business at York University.

The scholarship winners are pictured below with Cathy Denyer, President BBBST, Kelly McDougall, Executive Director, The Clifton Youth Foundation and Eric Clifton, President, The Clifton Youth Foundation.
