scholarships

Andra Takacs Scholarship - Grade 8

Due Date: End of March

Open to Littles in Grade 8 and in an ISM or One-to-One Program. The scholarship of $20,000 ($5,000 per year, for up to 4 years) may be used at any college or university, including schools outside of Ontario.  The funds may be used for school-related expenses, including tuition, books and student fees.  Applications mailed in January and February; returned to University of Toronto (UofT) for consideration by the Scholarship Selection Committee, which includes BBBST members. The program is administered by UofT, which is committed to matching all award applicants with university student mentors throughout their high school years.   Awarded to 1 Little Brother and 1 Little Sister annually.

CIBC Scholarship

Due Date: End of March

Open to Littles in Grade 10 in a mentoring program. $4,000 per year, for up to 4 years, and a summer job. Applications mailed in Februrary. In partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada - BBBST does not decide winner. 30 scholarships across Canada annually.

Clifton Youth Foundation Scholarship

Due Date: May

Open to Littles or Littles whose match was open within the last 2 years, who are entering their first year of a post-secondary program. Tuition and books are covered. Ontario Universities only. BBBST narrows down applicants, a committee with BBBST membership decides winners. 1 Little Brother and 1 Little Sister annually.

camps

Tim Hortons

Due Date: February (for Summer camps)

  • Littles between the ages of 9-12
  • Must live in Toronto/low income/no previous camp experience
  • Applications completed in office in January and February

Moorelands

Due Date: April 1st

  • Littles between 8-14 (Group, ISM, and Original)
  • Must live in Toronto
  • Applications sent in February
  • 30 spots in 2008

tutoring

Clifton Youth Foundation

Due Date: Summer

Tutoring grants are given to approximately 40 children/year.
